The province of León is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. With spectacular mountains, high-quality snow, and unique landscapes, its ski resorts attract thousands of visitors every season. Just a short distance from the capital city, you will find three of the most important ski resorts in the northwest of Spain: San Isidro, Valle de Laciana – Leitariegos, and Valgrande-Pajares.
In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know: skiable kilometers, lifts, services, distances from León city, and approximate opening and closing dates.

San Isidro is the largest resort in the province and one of the most popular in northern Spain. Cebolledo is best for intermediate and advanced skiers, while Salencias offers gentler slopes for beginners.
The resort features a ski school, equipment rental, restaurants, and large parking areas. Nearby villages such as Puebla de Lillo and Boñar also offer excellent gastronomy and accommodation options.
- Season: Usually opens in late November or early December (depending on snowfall) and closes between late March and mid-April.

The resort has areas for beginners as well as challenging slopes for advanced skiers. In recent years, it has invested in new facilities and lift upgrades. It also provides ski schools, rental shops, cafés, and rest areas.

4. Future Project: San Glorio Ski Resort
Although still under development, the San Glorio ski resort project has generated great interest among winter sports fans. Located in the northern part of León province, on the border with Cantabria and Palencia, the area’s altitude and orientation would provide excellent snow quality throughout much of the season.
Plans include dozens of skiable kilometers, modern lifts, and services designed for both expert skiers and families. If completed, it could become a new tourist hub for the León mountains, complementing San Isidro, Leitariegos, and Pajares, while attracting visitors from across northern Spain and beyond.
